I can’t find words.

Their aren’t words to express how I feel about
a parent not teaching their child(S) better.

A 12-year-old boy has been arrested for allegedly raping two 8-year-old boys from his Shelby Farms-area neighborhood. He was charged with two counts of rape of a child.

Reportedly, a third 8-year-old boy came forward with a similar claim on Friday, a day after the 12-year-old’s arrest, though additional charges have not been filed.

The grandmother of one victim said the the incident occurred in late May, shortly after school recessed for summer break. The boys were swimming with the 12-year-old in his backyard pool when he allegedly raped them and threatened to kill them and their families if they told anyone.

Three weeks later, the boys told a friend’s older brother. He then told the victims’ families.

Since then, a bustling neighborhood where children spent their days playing together outside has become much quieter, the grandmother said.

“There were kids out everywhere, all the time,” she said. “But for the past month, I kid you not, there hasn’t been a kid outside playing.”

The boy is the second juvenile to be charged with rape of a child in the Memphis area in less than two months. In May, a 12-year-old Germantown boy was accused of raping a 9-year-old boy from his neighborhood in a nearby woods.

He pleaded “no contest” to the charges in June and was ordered to attend counseling by Shelby County Juvenile Court.

About 100 juveniles were charged with a sex crime in Shelby County in 2010, perhaps the most notable involving Memphis’ youngest known rapists, a 7-year-old and 9-year-old boy.

In August, the two were accused of using an object to rape a 2-year-old neighbor.

In April, after receiving specialized treatment in state custody, the younger boy was released to his parents while the 9-year-old was ordered to undergo further treatment.

The age of the offenders keeps them from being listed on Tennessee’s recently established juvenile sex offender registry.

Offenders age 14-18 who have been convicted of rape, rape of a child, aggravated rape of a child, aggravated sexual battery or attempt of any of the aforementioned offenses are placed on the private registry, which is only available to law enforcement and court officials.

a few questions

  • What the hell are parent’s teaching their kids these days? are they teaching them that rape’s a good thing?
  • Why were the parents not supervising their children swimming?
  • To be honest with you, I’d have charged this kid as an adult and made an example out of him.

I’m thoroughly disgusted.

application review: ariadne gps for the iphone.

as a fairly knew user of the iphone from Apple, I found myself looking for apps to replace those I used to use on simbian/windows mobile.
It has been a struggle, but you wouldn’t think so by the number of apps I have amassed since april of this year.
I was concerned because their weren’t demos. You have to buy before you can actually try said apps.
I found ways around this particular hurtle, I subscribed to the viphone list, and used other resources to find information on applications for the iphone.
I was inparticular, looking for a GPS app that could do a lot of what Mobile Geo, on windows mobile, and combine a lot of the sighted GPS features sighted users were used to.
I had heard a lot about apps from sendero, and others.
I also heard about navigon.
That one, at least. I had the pleasure of playing with on a friends iphone.
I wasn’t to impressed with it, especially it’s accessibility and lacking of monitoring features, etc.
I then heard a lot of talk about
ariadne gps
and how great it was, beating out the compitition for blind users right out of the gate.
Costing $2.99 and availabhle in both the US and canadian app stores, among others, I watched the discussion on the viphone list I’m on and today, finally decided to give it a wirl.
I purchased the app, it installed, and right from jump it was accessible, and no need to really tweek anything, it switched from wifi to 3G efortlessly, no need to stop and restart the program to make the change.
The map was accessible, I could explore things, and really get to know my surroundings with no trouble.
As a first time user I was really impressed.
A couple of things I’d like to see improved/features I’d like to see added.

  • points of interest
  • a lot of the GPS apps for the blind, as well as GPS systems for sighted people contain a database full of points of interest from banks, to stores, to malls, etc.
I’d like to see ariadne do this either locally, or get it’s data from the remote servers.
If I remember correctly navigon has this type of information, via a local database, or remotely. hense the size being so huge.

  • monitoring while locked or in the background.
  • It would be useful if when the application was in the gbackground, or the phone was locked, the information presented while monitoring was on would still be spoken.
This would allow, for example, the user to take a call and still keep moving on their route.
This would also allow for the user to toss the program into the backgroun out of the way.

I’m not sure about route planning, destination usage, etc. but I’m sure if it exists I’ll find or use it.
I’m also sure that readers of this blog will be happy to comment on their own experiences with this particular application.
All told, this application is totally worhth the $2.99.
Until next time, take care.

attempting to ram religion down blind peoples throats isn’t how you sell a product.

so as a long time tech geek, I have this bad habbit of keeping up with firmware upgrades for the various blind products,
pacmate
braillenote family of products
and the
braille sense family of products
once distributed by
GWMicro
now sold and distributed by their manufacturer
hims INC.
It’s come to my attention that the braille sense plus has a knew firmware upgrade coming out or that’s already out, ok, that’s special, great, spantacular. Except for one major off pissing issue.
This firmware, will have burnt into the rom, five, yes five, different versions of the bible.
I see a few issues with this
List time, you know how this rolls.

  • not everyone’s freakin’ religious, stop trying to ram it down our throats.
  • noting the item above, if I wanna freakin’ remove it, give me the ability to for christ sakes.
  • Actually, here’s a better idea, during the upgrade, give us the option, we want it, grate, let us pick a version, or all five if the person wants it. Don’t want it? Don’t install it for peet sakes!

People have religion, believe in god, are cathlic, whatever. I’m not knocking that, what I’m freakin’ knocking is this freakin companies ramming religion by burning 5 different bibles into your note takers rom, without your consent, and their being no way to remove it or know way to tell the updater, thanks, but no thanks, I *don’t* want this.
Ok, if you *must* install it, stick it in flash, as files, so they can be deleted!
So me getting a braille sense plus?
Not after I read that.
Comment away.
Let’s see what this sparks. This should be interesting.

an early upgrade, a service provider change, all over stupidity., thanks, rogers.

so thursday, I got paid.
Nifty, fantastic, wonderful.
Until my attempt to pay my
Rogers
wireless bill.
I now have this nifty thing that’s a debit/credit card all rolled into one.
Yeah US readers, you’ve had them for freakin’ ever, I get it.
Anyhow, so I decide, on a wim, what the hell, let’s use the credit card portion of this thing, pay this stupid bill, and go about my erands for the day, that included, in no particular order, and the fact that some of these didn’t get done not withstanding.

  • ram my foot up someone’s ass for driving like a fucking moron, totalling their car, and then wining to me because they decided to drive drunk. Thanks for that by the way, next time, don’t drive home drunk, k?
  • attempt the thing that involves picking up groceries, please note this counts on
    james
mother giving more than 30 seconds notice when dropping by. We thank you for that, to.
  • Pay the rest of the outstanding bills, and curse at primus who’s automated system was down for maintenance.
  • find some form of sleep in their somewhere.

most of those got accomplished, in one form or another.
Back to the original topic here.
So I decide to pay the rogers bill. It initially goes through, then *there* system decides it’d be nifty to take a flying leap off a cliff and tell me my cards declined.
Leaving me in the middle of financial holy shitsville.
A couple phone calls later, determines that, no my cards fine, the funds were requested, then rejected.
Ok, back to square one.
Attempt it again, thinking maybe the system wants to play nice. Nope, not happening.
So I get a person on the phone, and basically tell them, here’s the situation, here’s what I did, your systems broke, I paid you, get your shit in order and fix it, or my business is gone.
Himmed and hawed with this frontline moron for 20 minutes, finally get tired of the crap, ram them through to james as I had other things to do and james is the account holder, and he goes a round or 2 with these twerps.
Accomplishes nothing, bounces to level 1 management. You guessed it, gets told we can’t help you even if it is our problem.

Requests next level, gets told, it’ll take 24 hours, his response? I’ll have a call by 11AM, or by 11:15AM you won’t have this account.
To make a long story short, my, james, our numbers, and our business will be as of somepoint today, no longer be with rogers.
We switch to the
apple iphone
and
telus mobility
so long, rogers.
related: I get to save money in the process, that’s nifty.
related number 2: I’m gonna attempt to break the poor store repts brain later today and have him turn voice over on for me. Yes, their *will* be audio, in the event amusement happens.

That’s it from here.

the US after action report, and other musings.

Yeah, I’m lazy.
Deal with it.
I’ve been back on this side of the boarder, for what, almost a month.
in list format, because I’m just to goddamn lazy, and expanding thoughts undercafinated is not how I roll, oh, and because I can.

  • I returned from the states march 3, 2011.< relatively in tact, sanity not withstanding. Surf the blog in february for the few blog posts pertaining to it.
  • Came back to more ODSP horseshit, that will see the light of day when I’m not lazy and can form a comprehensive blog post on the stupid. short version, hi questionaire that attempted to say
james and I were married. um, how about, not. That reminds me, I need to sign that, scan it and get it the hell back to the office.
  • More hospital related garbage, we think I’ve got a depression issue, but, that’s right, my health plan won’t cover meds to help me that don’t break my brain. now, where’d that money tree go?
  • I’m attempting to figure out relationship related things, partially due to depression, and partially other shit, that multiple people got the result of spued all over their monitors, thanks
    simon
    Kyra
for dealing with the majority of it. I know it probably made your computers explode, but that’s ok, their’s the money tree, right? um, no. lol.
  • The hockey posts? knowing I haven’t posted a damn one since february 13, the short version, we suck, fuck off, and die, sums up the majority of those games. So, we’ll just forgo the spam that’ll happen if I attempt to catch up, k? sound like a good idea? yeah, that’s what I thought.
  • james mother is still of the opinion I don’t need ibuprofen, as advol is the same, and my specialist really really wants to slap her upside the head with something blunt. as me, and you all, probably know, when my specialist, (or now nearly my full time doctor, but more on that in another entry, maybe.), says bounce, this is what you need, it probably means get it and STFU. their are certain parental figures that need to learn the art of your not my doctor, she is, either help me get what I need or get the goddamn hell outta my way, k?

that, in squished format, is me.
Now, where the hell’s the money tree, and the cafinated beverages.

your thursday shall start, with a clue.

For those who still haven’t realized how this works, let me clue you in on a little something, and I’ll do you a favor and do it in list format.

  • I am dating Krista. and sorry, I don’t share.
  • She is not abusing me. unlike some others I could name.
  • She is not taking advantage of me, or using me to get away from her parents. nor is she using me to pay her financial way in life, like someone else I could mention.
  • I’m not in this relationship for sex, even if certain backwater scumbags think that’s all I think about/want in life/from a relationship.
  • I’m not using
    james
and his credit card to get what I want in life. Nor am I using him to finance my upcoming trip to the states. This is paid for by me, nobody else. All james credit card did was hold the ticket, I paid for it out of pocket. once again, thanks for playing.

So in short, please, get you an education, get your facts straight and jump off the highist cliff available to you, and don’t take a parrashute with you either.
thanks for playing, next, please?

a note to people who think I’m made of money. their’s a clue inside. go fetch.

This is an open clue to specific individuals who think I’m made of money and who need a knew brain.
Please take note of the following in list format.

  • Nobody was home when I left on december 1, 2010.
  • Your waiting until now, almost a month later, to ask about the house key? seriously?

Now, for a couple well aimed clues.

  • If you really want me to ship the key back to you, kindly pay for it. and *my*, transportation, at $25 each way, to and from pembroke by cab to ship the offending piece of metal.
  • a more smarter idea is this, it’s cheeper to simply cut another key than to spend almost $15 in shipping, + transportation costs, to and from the post office, for me to ship the house key back to you.
  • what the fuck am I gonna do with the house key nearly 9 hours away, for serious?

In short, quit wasting my time, and yours, and the money I don’t have, and get over yourselves.
Replace the lock or the housekey, and move the fuck on.
I don’t wanna here anymore wining you can’t rent the room out because, *I*, didn’t give back the house key.
the simple fact is this, your to goddamn lazy to cut a knew one, and that’s the end of it.
Thanks for playing, now, shut up and leave me the hell alone.
note, to the people this is directed at, this is my blog, my opinion, don’t like what I have to say, stop reading, right the hell now.

a note to freedom scientific, primus, and windows mobile.

Since I’m lazy, have the following small notes to three companies, crammed into one post, and in list format.

  1. Freedom scientific
it’s good practice not to break your access to windows mobile applications right after an upgrade.
  2. Windows mobile:
When your told to send mail on an alternate port, actually doing it, without throwing 7 types of fits, would rule to.
  3. primus
This blocking of port 25 is not cool, kindly quit it.

With no love, the other geek in this apartment.

and that ends another christmas, for 2010.

Looking at posts this time last year, christmas was a fail, but so was my birthday, but that hasn’t happened this year, so we can’t bitch about it, yet.
Anyhow, not expecting to get presents, I was just expecting to go to james parents place for food and that’d be that.
But I did get presents.
In list format. I got.

  • body spray.
  • aftershave.
  • a knew winter hat

so, it’s nice to be thought of, even if it’s by a family that barely knows me.
but it still ruled, so you’ll have that.

Sex Offender Wins Custody of Daughter.

This is fucking dispicabel.
I’m extremely outraged.
My comments follow the article.

Sex Offender Wins Custody of Daughter.
A HEROIN-addicted sex offender has won custody of his young daughter because the girl’s mother is considered an even more unsuitable parent.
Child protection campaigners yesterday lashed the Federal Magistrates’ Court decision to leave the girl in such conditions as outrageous and “defying logic”.
Granting custody of the girl, aged about 5, to the father, the court branded the mother dishonest and criticised her continuing drug use. The court heard the mother, who has shoplifting and prostitution-related convictions and a history of drug use, left the labour ward to buy heroin soon after giving birth.
The father, who also has a string of convictions, was put on the sex offenders’ list after being convicted of wilful and obscene exposure The girl, who has behavioural problems and a speech impediment, has suffered serious injuries.
Her plight was reported to the Department of Human Services last year after she was treated for a serious burn to her buttocks. Each parent blamed the other for it. The girl also had injuries from a dog bite and once suffered an injury from being hit with a shoe. The couple separated soon after the birth, and the father is reported to have been violent to the mother.
But, despite concerns he had taken drugs as recently as last December, and kept a knife and sword collection, the court last month ruled the girl should live with him.
“The father provides calmer parenting with more clearly set boundaries than the mother does,” the magistrate said.
“A history of inadequate supervision combined with heroin and marijuana use create a serious concern that (the girl) may be neglected by her mother.”
The girl will spend two out of three weekends with her mother. The court gave the father custody because the mother continued to use drugs and “had been dishonest with the court”.
Her drug-screening tests repeatedly indicated the presence of benzodiazepines and opiates. She was even suspected of once taking drugs while in the court precinct arguing for custody. Her home was once described as filthy and strewn with vomit and faecal material, though the court accepted its cleanliness was usually “probably in an acceptable range”.
The father is on a disability pension and hasn’t worked in almost 10 years because of depression.
“There was no evidence (he) is making any notable contribution to society,” the court said.
It said he “was using drugs or doing something else he did not want to admit” as recently as last September, and had lied about his whereabouts when meant to be caring for his daughter.
But he was making progress with his addictions. It ordered him to dispose of his weapons. The Australian Childhood Foundation’s Joe Tucci said the decision “defies logic”.
“Children shouldn’t ever be placed in a situation where the rights of the parents . . . override their right to protection,” he said.
“The decision should be about whether a child is safe or not, not which parent is the better to look after them.
“The community expects children to be looked after by their parents, and if the parents fail this then the courts need to look after them.”
Child protection campaigner Hetty Johnston said the ruling was “outrageously dangerous”.”There’s no way staying with either parent should have even been an option. This isn’t in the best interest of the child,” she said.
A Department of Human Services spokesman said it was no longer involved in the case.

Let’s nail a few points here.

  • what the hell is the child doing with *either* parent to begin with?
  • with that said, are the courts utterly demented in the head? what the hell is this! your going to put the child in an abusive environment because, what, the state/department can’t pony up the money to keep this child safe?

No matter what, I’m shocked by this decision, that has been handed down.
Both parents, in my opinion, are unfit parents, so *neither* of them should have custody of this child.
Also, take into account the fact that this child is disabled, with a speech impediment. Can these parents provide for this child’s physical, medical, needs, with this drug habbit burning every spare dollar? In my opinion, no!
Ladies and gentlemen, the department of child services, and today’s justice system are a disgrace, no matter where you live, it’s atrotious.
I’ve posted previously in this blog about lesser cases, where the child is taken and put into the department as a ward of the state/county.
If these departments and our court systems, are going to do this to lesser cases, in a case like this article shows, why the fuck are they putting this child into an environment that, will most likely kill this child?
I want to here your opinions.
Am I wrong?
Am i just spouting out of anger?
Have i missed a vital point here somewhere?
The comment boards await you.
